About

Gateway Candyland

Our Story

Gateway Candyland has been a regular pit-stop for local residents and tourists traveling along Route 15 for over 35 years. Gateway Candyland continues to be a place where friends and family gather to enjoy the sweeter things in life.

In 1983, Sterling and Linda Bollinger built the market as a means to sell the produce grown on their orchard on Kelbaugh Road in Thurmont. Inspired by the family’s annual vacation, Sterling decided to sell candy as well. The store transitioned to the Seiss Family in 2018 and continues to carry the same old-time items it has for the last 37 years, along with their newest addition of homemade fudge.

We are a general store that carries candy, fudge, Hershey’s Ice Cream, and a large selection of candy making supplies. We are the corner store that still sells those little pieces of heaven. We are accompanied by Gateway Liquors, so there is a something for all age groups.
